In the plenary session of the Assembly of Kosovo, before the 11th legislature, it is expected to approve a statement regarding the decision of the Special Court of Kosovo in The Hague against the four former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
Last week, the PDK proposed to the Assembly the changes in the draft law of what are officially known as the Specialized Chambers of Kosovo, after the sentence of a total of 81 years of imprisonment for war crimes against Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli and Rexhep Selimi.
Before the session, the chairman of that party, Bedri Hamza, said that the draft law for the Specialized Chambers of Kosovo is a necessity for the history and future of the country. Asked what he discussed in the meeting with Prime Minister Albin Kurti on Sunday evening, Hamza stated that they talked about the political situation and the draft law, but also about the issue of the president, while he expressed readiness that, if the draft law passes, PDK is open to discussing the issue of the president, whose term ends on October 6.
The MP of the Alliance, Ramush Haradinaj, says that the Assembly of Kosovo should use these days to come out in support of the former leaders of the KLA. According to him, even if there is no agreement on the president and the country must go to new elections, the Assembly must join the voice of the citizens until October 6 that the Special Court’s sentence against 4 former leaders of the KLA was not in the name of the people of Kosovo, as Judge Charles Smith declared.
