Students of the University of Pristina, who joined the protest of the Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Alliance, in front of the country’s government building, demanded the unblocking of the institutions and the start of the work of the Assembly.
One student stated: “How do we build the future here, when those who are supposed to build the present are not working. We want opportunities for young people and we want institutions that work. Never underestimate the student, because many times in the history of this country, when others have waited, students have always come forward.”
The deputy of the PDK, Përparim Gruda, said that the government of the acting prime minister and head of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, has only offered the students to leave Kosovo.
“300,000 people have left Kosovo for five years. This is not migration, this is not a movement of people, this is a mass displacement of people from Kosovo.”
Meanwhile, the deputy of the Alliance, Albana Bytyqi, again called on Kurti to put an end to the non-constitution of the Assembly and pave the way for the creation of new institutions.
“Today we are here next to the government, in front of the government, and the abuse of the state continues, the blockade with the state continues. What is important is that we have sworn as MPs to protect the constitution and we will always defend it. We will not stop until the institutions are formed, the government is formed and we continue our work and not be blocked. That is why I invite Mr. Kurti once again to come to the Assembly, form the institutions and continue our work.”
For some time now, PDK and the Alliance have been protesting in front of the government building, where they demand the constitution of the Assembly, a process that the Vetëvendosje Movement – which emerged as the first force in the June elections and has the right to propose the name of the new speaker – has conditioned the election of the country’s new president.
