Some of the phrases in Trump’s peace plan are strange. It looks like they were originally written in Russian

It seems that some passages were originally written in Russian. The sentences and turns of phrase, according to the analysis of the diary, work in Russian, but in English they seem very strange, writes The Guardian.

For example, the third point from a total of 28 points in the plan reads: “It is expected that Russia will not attack neighboring countries and NATO will not expand further.”

“It is expected” is a clumsy passive construction in English. The Russian version – ожидается makes more sense and is a well-known verb form.

Other Russianisms that have made their way into the text include неодонночначности (ambiguity) and застичен (secure).

They recorded it in Miami

The White House admitted that Kirill Dmitriyev, the envoy of Russian President Vladimir Putin, drafted the proposal together with Steve Witkoff, the special envoy of White House chief Donald Trump. The couple drafted the text during a meeting in Miami, writes The Guardian. Ukraine and its European partners were excluded from the creation process.

Ukraine faces strong pressure from the United States to quickly adopt the plan. Trump set a deadline of November 27. Many analysts claim that it is unrealistic, because according to them the plan must undergo fundamental changes and it will be necessary to negotiate it.

But Trump is planning a short signing date, because it is typical for his impulsive decision-making and the pursuit of quick results.

The American proposal assumes the de facto recognition of Crimea and the Donetsk and Luhansk regions as Russian, while the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions are to be divided according to the front line. The plan limits the Ukrainian army, establishes security guarantees and envisages the economic recovery of Ukraine.
