Second round of elections in Kosovo, CEC: Only those registered in the first round can vote from abroad

For the second round of mayoral elections in Kosovo, which will be held on November 9, there will be no new registration process for voters from abroad.

The spokesperson of the Central Election Commission in Kosovo, Valmir Elezi, explained that only those registered in the first round will be able to vote in the second round of local elections. According to the CEC, on November 9, around 30,000 citizens belonging to the 18 municipalities where the runoff will take place can vote from outside Kosovo.

“In the second round of elections for mayors, only voters who were successfully registered during the application period for the first round and only for the municipalities where the second round will take place will have the right to vote outside Kosovo. A new period will not be opened for the registration of voters abroad, as the same list of voters approved earlier will be used. The total number of citizens who are registered to vote from outside Kosovo, in the round the first is 43,933. From this number, voters registered in the municipalities in which there will be no second round will be deducted”, said Elezi in an interview for KosovaPress.

Elezi confirmed that even for the November 9 process, the CEC will send the package with ballots to the voters registered outside of Kosovo by mail, while according to him, their duty is to send the package to one of the mailboxes open in 22 countries of the world and in Kosovo.
