“Federal agents arrested Sean Combs this evening on charges from the Southern District of New York,” District Attorney Damian Williams announced Monday night. What exactly is in the accusation, the authorities should publish on Tuesday morning local time, according to the BBC.
In addition to him, the well-known musician faces a long series of civil lawsuits including accusations of rape of a minor girl, of “grooming” producer Rodney Jones Jr., whom he was supposed to force to have sex with another man, or of sexual assault and domestic violence against his former partner, singer Cassie.
Last November, Cassie was the first to speak out against the rapper. In May, security camera footage also appeared, which captured how Combs attacked and beat his former partner. Two other women made similar allegations against Combs, one of whom the musician allegedly strangled until she lost consciousness.
Combs denies all the accusations against him and claims that the alleged victims are only after money.
According to Combs’ lawyer Marc Agnifilo, the rapper is looking forward to “clearing his name in court.”
“We are disappointed by the decision to prosecute, which we believe is unfair. “Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, entrepreneur, loving family man and philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, doting on his children and trying to uplift the black community,” the attorney’s statement reads.
