About 105,000 citizens of Kosovo registered abroad are continuing to exercise their right to vote by mail in the early elections for the Assembly of Kosovo. The process has started and will continue until June 6.
According to the Central Election Commission (CEC), most of the election packages have already been distributed, while the diaspora voting by mail is taking place in an orderly manner.
The spokesperson of the CEC, Valmir Elezi, has confirmed that voting by mail includes about 105,000 voters, while at the same time, physical voting in diplomatic missions for citizens registered in this way is foreseen.
“The period through the mail is underway, which is valid for about 105 thousand citizens of the RKS who have chosen this method of voting, while another 28 states that have registered to vote physically in diplomatic missions must wait for June 6, when it is provided by law to organize voting in the diplomatic missions of the RKS”declared Elezi.
Meanwhile, on June 6, physical voting will be organized in 30 diplomatic and consular missions of Kosovo in 28 countries, with a total of 47 polling stations open.
According to an analysis by the GERMIN organization, postal voting remains the main form of diaspora participation in electoral processes, also reflecting the increased access of citizens abroad after the legal changes of 2023.
The relevant institutions have emphasized that all measures have been taken to ensure a regular and problem-free process for voters abroad.
