Budapest

The flood wave, which is moving along the Danube, is already raising its level in Budapest, where it should culminate on Saturday. According to data from the Hungarian Hydrological Service, the water in the capital rose by almost a meter in 24 hours. However, the Hungarian Prime Minister said that “Budapest is safe” because the metropolis had raised its flood defenses to nine meters, which is more than the city’s flood has ever reached.

In Budapest, the level of the Danube will probably peak on the night of Saturday, and the main onslaught of high water awaits Hungary in the middle of next week. This was stated by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán at a press conference on Thursday.
