The Democratic Party of Kosovo insists on the continuation of the session for the constitution of the Assembly of Kosovo, which was interrupted on August 6.
The deputy and secretary of PDK, Vlora Çitaku, has again asked the chairman of the session, Avni Dehari, to continue the process of constitution of the Assembly.
Çitaku has stated that the procrastination of the process is creating a serious institutional situation and is violating the respect for the Constitution and the decisions of the Constitutional Court.
“The non-constitution of the Assembly has created a serious situation of violation of the Constitution and non-respect of the judgments of the Constitutional Court”, declared Çitaku.
PDK’s request for the continuation of the session was also made on Saturday, through the vice president of this party, Uran Ismaili.
However, the chairman of the session, Avni Dehari, opposed the possibility of calling the session without a political agreement between the subjects. Dehari argued that such a step could further deepen political tensions.
“Any attempt to call the session without a political agreement only further tenses the situation and increases the risk of clashes, even physical conflict inside the Assembly hall”, said Dehari.
The political clash over the constitution of the Assembly comes at a time when the parties have not yet reached an agreement to resolve the institutional impasse.
Meanwhile, PDK and AAK have earlier rejected the invitation of the acting president, Albulena Haxhiu, to sit in the talks on Tuesday. The meeting was proposed with the aim of finding a political agreement for the election of a consensual president.
In this situation, the parties continue to have opposite positions, PDK demands the return to the Assembly and the continuation of the constitution process, while the chairman Avni Dehari connects the continuation of the session with the prior reaching of a political agreement.
