President Vjosa Osmani has dissolved the Assembly of Kosovo and has set December 28 as the date for early parliamentary elections.
“Even though I chose a favorable date for the opposition, I was accused of coordinating and pleasing Kurt. It’s good to think that a few of these elections will come to me to seek the mandate. The language used in politics should be within normal language.
Any president would choose a date that predicts a date for greater attendance, not less. This decision was made with full awareness and at the service of the citizens of Kosovo. No party has expressed against the participation of voters abroad and as president I am obliged to choose a date when there is a greater and not a smaller participation and not in favor of a party. When immigrants are defined in the law, I will protect their rights”, declared Osmani.
These developments came after the meeting that Osmani held with the leaders of the political parties, who also made their proposals for the date of holding the parliamentary elections.
The head of the Guxo Party, Faton Peci, during the meeting with Osman, has proposed the date of December 28 for the holding of extraordinary elections.
“There were various discussions about the most optimal and favorable option for the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo. Between the two dates of December 21 and 28, we have preferred the date of December 28. The reasons are simple because the Central Election Commission has not yet certified the result of the local elections. Due to the need to have better preparation from both the CEC and the political parties, but at the same time also due to the need for better organization of the embassies and consulates in EU countries but also beyond in the USA, this was our proposal”, Peci declared.
The leader of AAK, Ramush Haradinaj, proposed December 21 to hold these elections, while he called the ruling party’s proposal to hold elections on December 28 as arrogance and contempt for the citizens.
“We have proposed that the day of the parliamentary elections be December 21, we think that in this way we will gain at least one week of time for budget extensions. As you know, the budget of Kosovo can also work in January and February the twelfth. Also, the government in office that is in office today can make decisions to fulfill some of its obligations, both to the RTK and to other parties, because these practices exist. However, in order to continue the implementation of the budget in March, in any case, a continuation is needed from the next Assembly“, he told the media.
Even the chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Bedri Hamza, has also proposed the date December 21 as suitable for holding extraordinary parliamentary elections.
