According to Drozdenko, Russian air defense destroyed 33 drones over the region. He stated it on the Telegram network. Firefighters are trying to put out the fire in the port and rescue operations are continuing.
“According to preliminary data, there are no victims. Combat operations are still ongoing,” added Drozdenko.
Ust-Luga port is one of the largest Russian ports on the Baltic Sea and a key hub for the export of Russian oil products. The port generates significant revenues for the state budget of the Russian Federation and is essential for the financing of the Russian military machinery.
On Tuesday afternoon, Russia carried out one of the most massive drone attacks on Ukraine. It sent 556 drones, anti-aircraft defense neutralized 541 of them by 19:00 local time (18:00 CET).
In Lviv, in the west of Ukraine, a monument registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List – the grounds of the 17th-century St. Andrew’s Church – and several other residential buildings were also hit in the middle of the day. The attacks resulted in dozens of injuries.
