Netanyahu supported the US truce with Iran, it does not apply to Lebanon

“Israel supports (US) President (Donald) Trump’s decision to suspend attacks on Iran for two weeks on the condition that Iran immediately opens the (Hormuz) Strait and stops all attacks on the US, Israel and other countries in the region,” the Israeli prime minister said in a statement.

Netanyahu also reiterated his support for American efforts to prevent Tehran from posing a nuclear and terrorist threat to the entire world.

The US president agreed to suspend strikes on Iran for two weeks if Tehran opens the Strait of Hormuz. Iran agreed to the ceasefire.

On March 2, Hezbollah attacked Israel with rockets and drones after expressing solidarity with the regime in Tehran, which has been facing American and Israeli strikes since February 28. The Lebanese government immediately condemned Hezbollah’s decision to attack Israel. Israel responded to shelling by Hezbollah with extensive retaliatory airstrikes in various parts of Lebanon and a ground invasion in southern Lebanon.

According to Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who mediated the ceasefire agreement, Iran and the US, together with their allies, agreed on an immediate ceasefire “everywhere”. He mentioned Lebanon by name.

Since the beginning of the war, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, 1,530 people have died in the country, including 102 women, 130 children and 57 health workers. Israeli attacks injured another 4,812 people.
