The mining complex, where the Russians hung the flag, is located on the southeastern edge of the city, reports the Ukrainska Pravda server. The flag was not supposed to have only a propaganda purpose, it was also supposed to convince the Ukrainian defenders that Russian forces had already occupied part of the city.
“Marines from the 38th brigade destroyed the enemy flag with a drone. The two Russian infantrymen who raised it were detected and destroyed. Myrnohrad is under the control of Ukrainian troops,” the Ukrainian air force later reported, which published a video of the flag being shot down.
Find and destroy
At the same time, however, the air force admitted that the situation in the city is still complicated. “Overall, the situation in Myrnohrad is difficult. Small Russian groups of one or two soldiers sometimes manage to sneak into the city, but our soldiers destroy the occupiers with coordinated ‘find and destroy’ actions. The defense of Myrnohrad continues,” the Ukrainian Air Force said.
