Ministers will not change yet, Babiš said

“If there were to be any reconstruction (of the government), it would certainly be after some kind of annual balance, if it works or if it doesn’t work, that’s the only criterion,” Babiš told journalists.

At the same time, there was speculation in the media about changes in the positions of the head of the Ministry of Defense, where Jaromír Zůna (SPD) is sitting, or the Minister of Culture Ota Klempíře (Motoristé). Especially after Zůna failed to establish his own candidate for the post of Chief of the General Staff and Klempíř failed with his proposal for changes in the public media.

However, Babiš described the speculation about the exchange of ministers as nonsense. At the end of June, they will only evaluate how they are fulfilling the program and where they have reserves.

He described the relations in the coalition as excellent. “I have been in three coalitions and it works perfectly, I have no problem with it,” said the prime minister.

Babiš was also asked by a journalist whether it was possible for President Petr Pavel to fly to one of the two days of the North Atlantic Alliance summit. “You’ll find out on June 8. I won’t comment on it, I don’t want to comment on it. Mr. Editor – will there be a storm today? Don’t you know?” was his answer.

Pavel, who has attended all NATO summits since taking office and was the chairman of the NATO Military Committee in the past, insists on his participation in the event in Ankara. He said this week that he has a competence lawsuit ready, which he could use if the government does not include him in the delegation. Babiš has already made it known that the president should not be part of the delegation. According to him, the cabinet should defend the country’s defense spending at the summit. Foreign Minister Petr Macinka (Motorists) rejects Pavlo’s participation in the delegation.
