General Directorate of METEOROLOGY Weather Forecast Expert Cengiz Çelik stated that a new cool and rainy system will affect Türkiye over the Balkans at the weekend and said, “On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, temperatures will decrease by 4-5 degrees, especially in the western and central regions.”
General Directorate of Meteorology Weather Forecast Expert Cengiz Çelik made an assessment of the expected weather conditions across the country. Çelik stated that the current rainy system continues to be effective in the eastern regions and said, “We will see rains on Friday and Saturday, especially in the Black Sea Region and the northeast of Eastern Anatolia. On Saturday, we will be under the influence of a new cool and rainy system coming over the Balkans. We expect rain only in Thrace on Saturday. We expect the system to be effective in the western regions on Sunday. We expect showers and thunderstorms in the Marmara, Aegean and Western Mediterranean and the west of Central Anatolia on Sunday. Temperatures are currently “It is around seasonal norms. It is a few degrees below seasonal norms in the western regions. It will increase by 1-2 degrees just before the system arrives at the weekend. However, with the cool and rainy system coming over the Balkans on Monday, temperatures will decrease by 4-5 degrees, especially in the western and central regions,” he said.
FLOOD AND HAIL WARNING
Çelik said that with the new system, rainfall will spread over a wide area. Çelik said, “With the new system, it will cause rains across the country on Monday and Tuesday, starting from the western regions on Sunday. There is a possibility of heavy rain from time to time in the Marmara and Black Sea, especially with the new week. It is useful to be careful against negativities such as sudden floods and local hail that these rains may cause.”
SITUATION IN 3 MAJOR PROVINCES
Noting that no precipitation is expected in Ankara on Friday and most of the weekend, Çelik said, “Ankara’s precipitation will start towards night hours and after the evening hours on Sunday. We expect thunderstorms again in Ankara on Monday. The highest temperatures are around 20-22 degrees in Ankara. We expect a 3-4 degree decrease after Monday and Tuesday.”
Stating that no rain is expected in Istanbul on Friday, Çelik said, “We expect thunderstorms in Istanbul on Saturday and Sunday. The highest temperatures in Istanbul are in the 22-23 degree band, as in Ankara. With the rain, we will feel a 3-4 degree temperature drop in Istanbul starting from Sunday.”
Stating that no rain is expected in Izmir on Friday and Saturday, Çelik said, “We expect thunderstorms on Sunday in Izmir. After Sunday, the system loses its effect in the coastal Aegean. However, there is rain in most of the country, especially on Mondays and Tuesdays, except for the coastal Aegean.”
