Meteorologists tightened the warning against thunderstorms. There is a threat of hail, very strong wind and torrential rain

A storm warning with a high level of danger applies from Sunday 12:00 to midnight from Sunday to Monday for Prague, part of the Central Bohemian Region, as well as the Karlovy Vary, Plzeňský, Jihočeský, Ústecký, Jihomoravský and Vysočina regions.

For the same period, the low level of danger applies to other areas in the Central Bohemian, Ústecký, Liberec and South Moravian Regions and the Vysočín Region, as well as part of the Pardubice Region.

According to meteorologists, we can expect very strong storms accompanied by hail, exceptionally with a size of more than 2 cm, and wind gusts of 70 to 90 km/h.

Lightning and torrential rain may be added during Sunday, which could cause local flooding.

The warning also targets traffic, as wind and hail can break branches and thus limit traffic on roads and railways.

The warning about the risk of fires also remains in force. It concerns central and northwestern Bohemia. According to the ČHMÚ, the expected rainfall at the beginning of next week will reduce the risk of fires below a dangerous level.

Complications were already brought by Saturday’s storms. According to the intervention statistics, firefighters in the Plzeň Region went out to almost 20 technical interventions on Saturday afternoon, mainly to remove trees, mainly in Klatovská and Tachovská.
