Kurti responds to Vucic’s statements: Serbia is interfering in local elections in Kosovo, we invite the EU to sanction

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has reacted to the latest statements of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, as well as ongoing actions by state and non-state actors of Serbia, which he has described as serious interference in the October municipal electoral process in Kosovo.

During the government meeting in office, he sought a response and sanction from the European Union institutions and has also listed the latest statements of the President of Serbia.

Promises for jobs, conditioning and blackmail blacksmiths, statements by senior Serbian officials that only Serbian List protects Serbia in Kosovo, as the former Serbian Prime Minister, now the President’s adviser there, Milos Vuçevic, are constant methods of Serbian intervention in Kosovo process“, Kurti said today at the government meeting in office.

Quoting the EU mission report on observing elections in Kosovo that Serbia has intervened in February elections in Kosovo, Kurti said Serbia’s intervention in Kosovo is more severe than Russia’s elections in Europe.

In this context he has called this intervention in the municipal electoral process as a violation of democracy and sovereignty.

“The mission for the EU in the parliamentary elections of 9 February 2025 had identified a series of Serbia’s interference in our elections. Interference in other states’ elections is a clear form of violating that state’s democracy and sovereignty,” Kurti said.
