After the meeting that lasted more than two hours, Albin Kurti and Lumir Abdixhiku announced that they had taken a new step in the effort to solve the institutional crisis in Kosovo. Kurit said that this was the first meeting in which specific names for the country’s president were discussed.
“The discussion was open, honest, serious. The talks will continue because trust has increased and it is the first time we have discussed with and for specific names. So, to those criteria and guiding principles that we agreed on last time regarding the values, merits and national, state, professional, citizen contributions of personalities, different figures of society and our country, we have attached the specific names that we have discussed and this is an important step forward“, Kurti said, KosovaPress reports.
The head of the LDK, Abdixhiku, expressed the same.
“As we told you last time, after agreeing on the principles for the president or future president of the Republic of Kosovo, today we continued with discussions about specific names. In the entirety of the names presented, I can say with complete conviction that all the names, to a large extent, some more and some less, are in line with the principles agreed so far. And in this regard, let’s say that this is a step forward, since we have moved from the political concept about principles to names“, he declared.
Meanwhile, regarding the name of Hashim Thaçit as proposed by Haradinaj for president. Kurti said:
“The Liberation War of the People of Kosovo, the bearer and organizer of which was the Liberation Army of Kosovo, is a just, liberating, anti-colonialist war against the centuries-old Serbian occupier and there is no judicial process either in the country or abroad, which could tarnish the KLA. We hope for the best and wish to be returned to a free Kosovo. We believe in their innocence and that is the main thing. On the other hand, the process of negotiations with the Democratic League of Kosovo for the candidate for president or president is a separate process, it is a political process and not a justice process.“
In the next meeting between the two parties, concrete names are expected to be proposed for the post of the new president of the country.
