Krasniqi: Not to risk the Mediterranean Games, it would be a loss of a part of independence

The President of the Kosovo Olympic Committee, Ismet Krasniqi, has called for the formation of the country’s new institutions as soon as possible, stressing that political delays can negatively affect the preparations for the organization of the Mediterranean Games “Prishtina 2030”.

After voting in the parliamentary elections, Krasniqi said that Kosovo is facing a historic moment, while the implementation of sports infrastructure projects requires full institutional support and quick decision-making. He emphasized that the Olympic Committee of Kosovo has taken on great responsibilities with the organization of the Mediterranean Games and that there are already delays in the realization of some important projects.

“I once again wish that the government of Kosovo is formed as soon as possible because it is in the interest of the Olympic Committee of Kosovo, because we know that the Olympic Committee of Kosovo has received the Mediterranean Games Pristina 2030, that very soon we have to start with the sports infrastructure that we are late. So without a stable government it is not possible for us to work. So I believe that as soon as possible the government is created, the president is created and we start with our jobs that await us. “The Mediterranean Games are a historic occasion for Kosovo and we should not miss them at any moment. So, this is an occasion, the elections are very important for us and I believe that the government will be formed very soon and we will continue the work”, emphasized Krasniqi.

He raised concerns about the delays in the improvement of the sports infrastructure and the national stadium project, underlining that the state guarantees given for the organization of the Mediterranean Games must be fulfilled without any compromise.

According to Krasniqi, the construction of the foreseen sports facilities is a basic condition for holding the Mediterranean Games in Kosovo. He warned that any failure in the realization of these projects could seriously jeopardize the right to organize this great sports event.

“I think it is necessary, and it is inalienable that they must be realized because we have given state guarantees that they will be built. Because without the construction of the sports infrastructure, without the national stadium and without all that we have promised, it is impossible for us to receive the Mediterranean Games. The loss of the Mediterranean Games is a loss of a part of our state’s independence, so we do not dare to risk it at any moment. I do not believe that any party or individual has such goals, yes, this begs for unity, a union that only together we can achieve the goal we aim for”, said Krasniqi at the end.

In order to avoid this fatal scenario that cannot be jeopardized at any moment, an immediate union of forces is required beyond any party or individual interest, with the sole aim of fulfilling this major mission. KosovaPress
