Kosovo Police have arrested a person suspected of involvement in criminal activities against the constitutional order and security of the Republic of Kosovo.
According to the Kosovo Police, it is about the suspect with the initials LJ. M, which referred to operational information had entered Serbia on the territory of Kosovo.
He is allegedly actively participating in the violent events of 29 May 2023, where members of KFOR and Kosovo Police were attacked in front of the Zvecan municipality building.
The Special Prosecution in coordination with this institution has taken immediate measures to detain it, due to the risk of escape, as the suspect works and lives in Serbia, as well as to prevent the manipulation or eradication of evidence.
His arrest was made in the municipality of Zvecan, while with the support of the Regional Directorate in North Mitrovica, a search was carried out at his home.
Police also explain that the search seizes several material evidence, including a phone, two USBs, some military uniforms and a nationalist inscription, allegedly used on the day of the incident.
The suspect was questioned in the presence of a lawyer and translator, and by the decision of the prosecutor was taken to custody for 48 hours.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the offenses, “Union for unconstitutional activity, in order to attack against the constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo”, “Endangering persons under international protection”, “Attack on the official person” and “participation in the crowd committing criminal offenses and hooliganism”.
