Kosovo- After the failure to form the “Kurti 3” government, the presidency confirms: President Osmani invites the parties for constitutional consultations

With the failure of the vote of the new Government proposed by the Prime Minister in office, Albin Kurti, the process for the formation of institutions officially passes to the powers of the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani.

The President’s Cabinet has confirmed that it will take the next legal steps.

“President Osmani will invite the political parties for consultations anyway within the constitutional deadline and in accordance with the constitutional responsibilities,” declared for RTK, Bekim Kupina, the media advisor to the President.

This announcement comes after the Assembly of Kosovo failed to vote for the “Kurti 3” cabinet, which received only 56 votes in favor, 52 against and 4 abstentions.

President Osmani had previously warned that, in case of failure of the vote, she would have ten days to call the political parties to consultations, in order to verify if any political entity can secure the majority of 61 votes necessary for a new Government.

Speaker Dimal Basha has emphasized that the next constitutional steps now belong to the Presidency, confirming that the phase of government formation has been completed for the last proposal.
