“If you fire your biggest weapon that you really have as an opposition camp five months after the election, what are you going to do when the going gets really tough? Are you going to do it again? Are you going to be there every week, every month? Are you going to camp at Letná?” Stanek asked.
He himself has not yet seen a reason to organize a demonstration. According to him, nothing has actually happened so far, the government is just preparing all questionable measures against which it might be worthwhile to demonstrate.
Shavit does not expect that Babiš would make a big deal out of the event, at which dissidents filled the Letenská plain. “It can become advantageous to let people demonstrate because you are so strong that it will not threaten you,” she commented.
The demonstration did not particularly impress Prchal either. “It occurred to me that I was watching a production where everyone is acting in certain roles and saying the right things,” he remarked.
He was surprised that, unlike most demonstrations on Saturday, the main emotion was not anger, but joy.
Staněk: Minář is climbing on radishes for the opposition
Staněk believes that Milion chvilek is now thinking about what he will do next and plans to activate his supporters. In addition, the association has already launched a recruitment campaign for the Million Network.
“It should frighten the opposition as such, because someone is climbing into their garden and wants to grow radishes there,” he noted.
The debaters also addressed Minář’s appeal to the opposition to offer the ANO movement support for a minority government instead of the SPD and the Motorists.
“The proposal in itself is fine, but it will probably not be heard. Andrej Babiš is not in a position to say that Mikuláš Minář is giving him a way out of the situation,” noted Shavit.
According to her, the more pressure Babiš will face, the more she will want to continue ruling with Motorists and the SPD.
What should be the main theme of the Million Moments demonstrations for the rest of the year? Who is to blame for the situation surrounding public media? Will Mikuláš Minář found a new political party? And should the opposition offer YES support to the minority government?
