Hoxha and Konjufca at the Diaspora Summit: Coordinated approach and cooperation to advance the interests of our diaspora

At the Diaspora Summit, during Panel V with the theme *”Albanian Diaspora: Are we doing what we need to do together?”*, a wide debate was held on the need for institutional coordination and a common approach to advance the interests of the Albanian diaspora.

The Foreign Minister of Albania, Ferit Hoxha, in his speech emphasized that the Albanian diaspora is one, regardless of state borders, and that a common strategy is needed to represent it and include it in decision-making.

He stated that Albania is building the new strategy for the period 2026-2030, which will also be discussed with Kosovo and other countries in the region.

“Our diaspora is not divided. In Brussels, London, USA or Australia, they have common language, identity and interests. If we do not have a common approach, we will not have common action,” said Hoxha, underlining that coordination between institutions and diplomatic missions is the key to a successful interaction.

He added that common elements such as language, identity and culture should be at the center of policies, while investments, innovation and talents should be harmonized in order to benefit all Albanian countries without competition between them.

We must have a cultural interaction as harmonious as possible, because we have almost everything in common and absolutely nothing separate“said the minister.

In the end, Hoxha admitted that the current approach in Albania is still fragmented, with different ministries, agencies and centers dealing with the diaspora, but stressed that it is time to advance towards a clear and common coordination.

Only by coordinating as best as possible with each other can we achieve impactful results for our diaspora and for our countries,” he concluded.
