The Minister of Youth and Sports, Blerim Gashani, has spoken about the current challenges in the preparations for the Mediterranean Games and the institutional commitment to their organization, stressing that despite external factors, the work will continue with full intensity.
Speaking about the influence of global factors and legal processes, Gashani emphasized that the dynamics of developments cannot be accurately predicted due to international crises, but this will not be an obstacle for moving forward. He underlines that the road has already been paved for the organization of the Mediterranean Games and that the relevant law is ready for urgent procedure in the government.
The minister clarified that the document was returned for technical issues, but the institutions were close to finalization and it is expected to proceed very soon, creating an important basis for the next steps, including the establishment of the relevant structures.
“I don’t know how much it should increase, because some of the issues that don’t depend on us is the issue of world crises, which increase inflation, but we won’t deal too much with these because every receipt is a delay, and we will move forward. We are already paving the way. We have the Mediterranean Games law ready and we will process it very quickly and urgently even in the government… No, it has been released, so only for rural reasons, because otherwise today we thought we would be in able to send him to the government meeting first, so we are close there, he will pave a road and form a framework, then for some other steps to establish the community“, he emphasized for KosovaPress.
Furthermore, he talks about the institutional commitment and extensive cooperation that such an organization requires, expressing his conviction that the maximum will be given from all levels. Gashani emphasizes that this process will involve not only the Ministry of Youth and Sports, but the entire government, including the prime minister, key ministries such as finance, internal affairs, health, and local government. According to him, an important role will be played by the Olympic Committee and the Municipality of Pristina, together with the other organizing municipalities, for which he says that he has already seen full readiness for cooperation. In the end, the minister underlines that the main goal remains for Kosovo to shine through this event, regardless of individual or political merits.
“I am super convinced, why am I super convinced because we will give our best not only from the Ministry of Sports and Youth but also the entire government because we are all there, from the prime minister to the line minister, internal finance, health, local government, infrastructure must participate, we will all be together and so we will all be and give our best, but the Olympic Community and the Municipality of Pristina and the municipalities that organize the event will also give our best. I have already asked the absolute majority of them and I have seen their willingness to work together, to return to a part of your question, I deal with such events, to make the event so that Kosovo shines even if I have no credit left, as a member of a party or even a coalition, there is absolutely no problem, only Kosovo shines“, Gashani announced.
The Mediterranean Games are a major multi-sport event that is organized every four years and brings together countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea. They were founded in 1951 with the aim of strengthening cooperation, friendship and sports competition between the participating countries.
