The civic platform “Liria Ka Emër” has requested the commitment and coordination of the institutions of Kosovo and Albania after the judgment of September 16 against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selim by the Specialized Chambers in The Hague.
The representative of the platform, Ismail Tasholli, has called on the institutions, the political spectrum, diplomats, civil society, experts and expatriates to engage in a coordinated manner in this process.
He requested that the institutions of Kosovo clarify the plan and strategy for the legal and financial support of the former leaders of the KLA.
“The government must tell us clearly: What is the plan? What is the state strategy? What legal and financial support will be offered?”, said Tasholli.
He also requested that the Government of Kosovo and the Government of Albania meet together, with an item on the agenda for institutional support and securing funding for legal protection.
Meanwhile, the other representative of “Liria Ka Emër”, Eliza Hoxha, announced that on October 1, the march “NOT IN MY NAME” will be organized in support of Thaçi, Vesel, Krasniqi and Selim.
Hoxha said that the date was chosen because of the student protest of October 1, 1997 and announced that on October 10 the call will continue in Brussels, along with the exile.
The platform has also announced the start of a citizens’ petition with the motto “NOT IN MY NAME”, which, according to them, will be symbolically sent to Brussels, Strasbourg and The Hague.
“We ask the government for a plan. We ask the institutions for coordination. We ask the political parties for cooperation”, said Hoxha, emphasizing that political differences should not hinder coordination on issues that the platform considers to be of state interest.
