Former president Hashim Thaçi: I believe that we will celebrate the other Novembers together

The former president of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, criticized the Special Court today during the second hearing against him. He said that holding the session exactly on November 28, Flag Day, is an unpleasant surprise.

“I think that the appointment of this session today should be avoided. There is a national, state and family holiday because it is a holiday of dignity and national pride like every free people in the world, celebrates and remembers. I have no choice but to wish the Albanians to celebrate united, proud and with dignity. I believe that we will celebrate the other Novembers together”. Thaçi declared.

The former president emphasized that it is for the respect of the rule of law, but requested that things not happen in this court that would not be allowed in their respective states.

He added that Albanians have history and national values, which must be respected. The judge of the Specialized Chambers, Christoph Gosnell, reacted by thanking Thaçi for his words, while clarifying that today’s hearing was set after consultations with all parties and there were no objections to the date. The preparatory conference was held against Thaçi, Bashkim Smakaj, Fadil Fazliu, Isni Kilaj and Hajredin Kuçi.

Its purpose is to prepare the trial for the charges against them for misuse of the administration of justice. The hearing marks the start of a week of conferences at the Special Court in The Hague.
