The former American ambassador, William G. Walker, has proposed Faton Bislim, the lobbyist for the issue of Kosovo and the Albanians in the USA, as a candidate for the president of Kosovo.
The former head of the OSCE Verification Mission in Kosovo, through a letter sent to the chairman of the LVV, Albin Kurti, the chairman of the PDK, Bedri Hamza, the chairman of the LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku and the chairman of the Alliance, Ardian Gjini, has expressed his concern about the political crisis for the election of the new president.
In the letter provided by KosovaPress, Walker considers Faton Bislimim, who was also a member of the parliament of Kosovo, an adequate person for the post of president.
“I have heard the names of several possible candidates. All of them are worth considering, but in my judgment, none of them possess all the necessary skills, experience and personality that this post requires. Let me suggest a possible choice. I have known Faton ‘Tony’ Bislim for many years. We have often discussed the politics of Kosovo, both domestically and the place of this new state in Europe and the world. I have no doubt about the independence of Tony’s opinion and his ability to articulate his position on any subject. In my opinion, the only one of the names possible, Tony possesses all the necessary skills – and the personality to match them – to be a successful President. Let me list the skills that I consider essential for a successful presidency.”
Walker especially emphasizes that Kosovo needs a president who represents the country as a whole, and not a party or a certain political position./KosovaPress/
