Ticket sales started on Tuesday morning, but the website was down for several hours immediately afterwards. “We apologize to all Traitors, Loyalists and other viewers for the difficulties with our website,” responded the operator of the multiplex network.
“The interest in tickets far exceeded our and our servers’ expectations. We are working intensively to make everything work as soon as possible,” company representatives said on Tuesday afternoon.
After 4:00 p.m., the site was functional again, the tickets were just gathering dust.
Access to foreign accounts
However, according to user feedback, CineStar has a completely different problem – probably due to a web error, the data of complete strangers were displayed after logging in, including tickets. People are massively complaining about this multiplex on social networks.
“People got access to other people’s accounts, and therefore also to the personal information listed on them. It was possible to buy tickets for other people’s accounts. So all registered users – maybe someone got access to your data and now they have your e-mail, phone, etc. I still understand the overload of the website when making a purchase, but this is not OK,” declared Jana K.
This is not an isolated case. “It also showed me other accounts,” stated Jiří M. “I saw a foreign name and the number of points,” added Míša J. “It logged me into four different accounts. I could see all purchases,” responded Lucie P.
“When a person clicks on the hall, it logs them to some people and sees their orders in the history, QR code of the card, phone, email, etc. It has already logged me in to three people like this, and I didn’t even do anything, I just clicked on the hall on the main page and I was automatically logged in to someone. You should drop it, because this is a pretty big security fail,” said Jan M.
CineStar prefers to turn off the website
CineStar is already actively dealing with complaints. “We are gradually receiving information about security incidents connected with the display of foreign user accounts. We are working intensively to find out the causes and to eliminate all problems as quickly as possible,” responded CineStar head Miroslav Romančuk to Novinek’s question.
“However, since we are not 100% sure at the moment that the entire system is sufficiently stable and secure, we leave our website temporarily disabled – until we receive a thorough analysis of the causes and confirmation of specific steps to ensure stability and security,” added Romančuk.
He assured customers that CineStar “will resolve the situation and provide compensation for the problems”. The multikin network will inform about the next procedure in the coming days.
