Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, in her speech to the media after the end of the Brido-Brijuni Summit this Monday (October 6) in Durres, has supported Albania’s progress on the road to European Union membership.
Osmani stated that during the summit process she sought the support of Slovenia and Croatia, as two EU member states, to increase their support and be Kosovo’s voice in European institutions. Osman expressed her reservations on Brussels’ sanctions on Kosovo, which he stressed that none of the member states gives strong reasons why they remain in force.
“… 100% Linking with Foreign Affairs and Security Policy with EU. Unfortunately despite these reforms, Kosovo still remains under EU sanctions for which none of the member states are ready to provide reasons why they are still in force, although the conditions set in the Bratislava Agreement have been met, although our membership application has not been submitted since now. of the candidate status for Kosovo.”, Osmani declared.
The president also focused on the speech held by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic at the summit, accusing him of insulting and attempting to obstruct the summit process.
“Serbia’s Vucic addressed the Summit with insults and arrogance with the attempt to disrupt the meeting, but we managed to adopt the common statement with unanimity. For any propaganda that Vucic intended to introduce to the participants, we as the Republic of Kosovo had our powerful arguments on the right side, supported by international law. As Kosovo we are in favor of regional cooperation and we will protect our state interest, our integrity and sovereignty”, Osmani said.
For his part, President Vucic, while underlining some of the disputes he had with President Osmani during the Summit, stated that the European road is a strategic path for the region.
“There are no places here. Only names are used. So this is a good legacy of this process. I have said and talked about a type of hypocrisy, double standards, each of us actually trying to get something at the expense of someone else.R, ”Vucic said in a statement to journalists.
