He stated that the judicial process in The Hague has clearly shown that there is no reliable evidence against the former leaders of the KLA and that justice will prevail.
“The process so far has shown that the Prosecution has no real evidence and you are sure that Mr. Thaçi, Mr. Veseli, Mr. Selimi and Mr. The Krasniqis will be triumphant at the end of the process and will return to their family, but also to political life in Kosovo” Hoxhaj declared.
He described this process as a blow to Kosovo and its international image, adding that the Special Court has exceeded its mandate and mission.
“This was a blow in relation to Kosovo. The international landscape, even the situation within Western countries and everywhere in the world, shows that this Court is excessive in its mandate and mission.,” he said.
Hoxhaj expressed the hope that the spring of next year will bring good news for the leaders who are unjustly in The Hague.
“I hope that in the spring of next year this process will end with good news for the leaders who are unjustly in The Hague..”
Speaking about the establishment of the Special Court, Hoxhaj emphasized that it was a direct request from international partners, especially the USA and the EU, and that it was better to be established by Kosovo institutions than by the UN.
“It was a request that it would be better to establish a court from Kosovo than to establish a court from the United Nations Organization. I think that such an answer should be sought here, and not in Tirana.”
Hoxhaj praised the wide participation in the protest held in Tirana in honor of the KLA war, expressing gratitude to all the citizens who joined this symbolic act of memory and solidarity.
Regarding the political debate between the acting prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the prime minister of Albania, Edi Rama, Hoxhaj said that Kurti should have called for massive participation in the protest for the KLA in Tirana, and not try to hit it through a hybrid war.
“I think that Kurti should call for the increase of mass participation in the KLA protest in Tirana and not strike through a hybrid war this magnificent mess that was taking place in Tirana.”
Former minister Hoxhaj asked for political and institutional reflection to protect the values of the KLA war and to guarantee justice for the leaders who, according to him, are being unjustly detained.
