The case took place in Prague. Stepan Pop (26), Andrian Kerechanyn (24), Andrij Bedej (21), Mychajlo Fedoranyč (21) and Marie Anna Bočanová (20), according to the indictment, kidnapped a 21-year-old woman with limited autonomy last April, from whom they tried to get a total of 260,000 crowns, which she allegedly “laundered” through her bank account.
According to the file, the money came from an unspecified internet fraud. At first, the woman received 100,000 crowns from an unknown perpetrator, she was supposed to hand over another 160,000 crowns to Pop for a reward of 10,000 crowns.
In mid-April, they came to the injured party, under the pretext of luring her out of Pop’s apartment and into her car. The man was then supposed to take her to an unspecified place and wait for the others.
There, Pop allegedly tried to convince her to get into another car, but the woman refused. The defendant Fedorany sprayed the victim with pepper spray in her face, while the others shouted at her that she was a “fat dirty cu**a”, a “fat bitch” and asked where the money was.
Then they loaded the woman into the car and took her to another place. There again, according to the indictment, she received pepper spray in the face from Fedoranych. The defendants were then supposed to leave the woman in a closed and spray-infested car with the words: “Let her eat the pepper.”
According to the indictment, when the woman was finally let out, defendant Kerechanyn pointed a gun at her and asked her where the money was. The woman replied that she did not know, so Kerechanyn started shooting around her to scare her. Fedoranyč was then supposed to come to her and tell her that for every wrong answer she would get pepper spray between her eyes.
When the victim blurted out that a certain “Mirek” had the money, the Fedorany sprayed pepper spray in her mouth.
The defendants and the victim then left for Prague, where they kicked her. The victims then allowed themselves to drink water and have a cigarette, saying “that she would enjoy it before she dies, because if the victim does not give them the money by midnight, they will kill her and bury her”.
To add weight to his words, according to the indictment, Bedej pulled out a machine gun from the car and poked the main woman in the face. The woman was then forced to record a message for her roommate that she should hand over the phone of the victim to the defendants. The roommate finally agreed and gave them the phone for less than thirty thousand.
