An unusual scene from the Assembly of Kosovo is making the rounds of the international media, after the moment when the deputy of the opposition Time Kadrijaj threw eggs in the direction of Albin Kurti.
The BBC has singled out this very moment in a video, with images of the MP throwing the eggs and the intervention of MPs and security.
The images were also published by “The Guardian”, which described the event as a chaotic moment in the parliament of Kosovo. “Euractiv e DW” has also put the incident in the center of the reporting, connecting the egg-laying with the escalation of the political crisis in the country.
The incident, foreign media point out, happened after acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti asked for more time for political consultations, at a time when Kosovo’s institutions are in a prolonged stalemate.
The June 7 election did not produce the necessary majority, while Kurti’s party secured 53 seats, short of the 61 votes needed for a parliamentary majority.
Prime Minister Kurti is aiming to reach an agreement with the LDK for the election of the new president of the country simultaneously with the constitution of the Assembly, but while he aims to reach an agreement that would avoid new premature elections, the 30-day deadline for the constitution of the assembly has passed and his political opponents can turn to the Constitutional Court to give a decision on the situation created.
