While part of the students remained in the room, about thirty young people dressed in black left the room. One of the students held in her hand the flag of Ukraine, that is, the country that is resisting the Russian invasion. According to Denník N, Fico told them to go fight in Ukraine if they support the war.
The students stood up when the Prime Minister said during the lecture that the European Union wants to provide Ukraine with additional money “for the continuation of the war”. There was a noise, to which Fico responded by saying: “If you are such heroes in those black shirts and you are so much for the war, then go there”.
In the discussion with the students, Fico also explained that the regime change in Czechoslovakia in 1989 was controlled by the leaders of the Communist Party. “It’s just that the leaders of the Communist Party understood in 1989 that the country was not competitive. That an economy based on state ownership could not work. So they made a decision and let it go,” said Fico.
“Then they ask me why I have such a lukewarm attitude towards November 17. Well, because it was like that. It was controlled, controlled,” he added. According to Fico, the regime had an army and weapons, so it could last another 15 years without any problems, as is happening today, for example, in Belarus.

“He said that the referendum on Slovakia’s entry into the European Union in 2004 was manipulated,” said the student. “It wasn’t about international politics, it was just pointing fingers at us,” she added.

The students who left Fico’s lecture emphasized that they want Slovakia to remain a part of the European Union and NATO. After the lecture, Fico left Poprad.

The Prime Minister published a photo from the lecture on Facebook with the comment that he is currently discussing international relations in Poprad. “Imagine, we have different opinions,” he stated.
