One of the candidates of the Democratic Union for Integration for local elections in the municipality of Lipkovo in Northern Macedonia was injured with firearms, but thankfully is out of danger. The Minister of Internal Affairs in Northern Macedonia announced that the injured is Zekirija Shaini, 43, leader of the list of DUI advisers in Lipkovo for the October 19 elections.
According to her, he was shot by persons driving a vehicle at a junction in Kumanovo. Whereas the public prosecution, after announcing that it had launched an investigation, said preliminary data show that there are no political motives after the armed incident. “All circumstances are being verified”– says in her reaction.
The Albanian party in opposition Democratic Union for Integration reacted shortly after the incident, strongly condemning the attack while calling for urgent reaction from state institutions. The DUI, which also heads the National Alliance for Integration Coalition in the October 19 elections, called on supporters and citizens to keep calm and not fall prey to provocations.
It is also worth, the Albanian coalition in co -government in Northern Macedonia reacted to the event.
“We condemn any form of violence and appeal to calm, prudence and respect for the institutions responsible for investigating the event. Violence has no place in our society and no circumstances can justify acts that endanger the lives and safety of citizens.-says the reaction is worth it.
The incident happened two weeks before holding local elections in Northern Macedonia, scheduled for October 19, while political entities are conducting the election campaign.
