Demographic Challenges and Labor Market, Begaj: To implement long -term policies and strategies to avoid consequences

In the face of the situation where the country is in terms of demographic changes and challenges in the labor market, President Bajram Begaj called for the implementation of long -term strategies and policies to precede the surprises that these changes may bring.

Begaj also called the cooperation between Albania, Kosovo and the region as a priority.

These demographic developments directly affect the labor market. On the one hand there is a lack of active workforce, but on the other hand the unemployment of young people remains high. This contradiction is a paradox, in fact, a paradox that requires new, visionary and long -term policies. Meanwhile the labor market needs, there are demands, high demands for employees with new skills,“President Begaj declared.

Undering the need for an integrated approach between fiscal policies, education, migration and labor market reform, the Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, said that the country’s integration could accelerate the mobility of the workforce.

EU membership will create new opportunities for trade, investment and institutional convergence. It will increase productiveness, improve the business climate and reduce immigration inequalities. However, we must also analyze the possible challenges. Experiences we already know from previous extensions show that integration can accelerate the mobility of the workforce,Governor Sejko said.

These statements were made during the conference where academics and representatives of institutions from the region and beyond dealt with current challenges and shared experiences on sustainable economic development in the context of demographic changes.

Begaj: Science, foundation of national identity and sustainable development

President Bajram Begaj delivered a special word at the Scientific Conference organized by the Academy of Sciences of Albania and the Academy of Sciences of Kosovo, assessing the role of academic knowledge and cooperation in strengthening national identity and the development of the region.

Begaj emphasized that cooperation between the two academies is an inspiring example of cultural, historical and scientific unity between the two Albanian countries, stating that “knowledge knows no bounds” and that unity through science is a patriotic and foresight act.

This conference is more than an academic event. It is a testimony of our spiritual and intellectual union. It is a step towards building a common research and educational space for all Albanians,“He declared.

The head of state also emphasized the need to strengthen research institutions, to support young scientists and to create a common national strategy in the field of higher education and innovation.

President Begaj praised the continued work of academies in preserving and developing cultural, linguistic and historical heritage, stressing that “our academies are pillars of knowledge and preservation of our collective memory.”

He called for politics and the Academy to find more meeting points, stressing that the development of the country and the nation cannot be understood without the leading role of knowledge and research.
