Close the windows and do not go out. Polish firefighters are fighting a fire at an aerosol factory

“According to witnesses, the fire has already engulfed the roof of the building and parts of the roof covering are flying around. There is a fear that the fire will not spread to the surrounding buildings,” reported Radio Gdańsk. The fire broke out on Sunday after noon in the factory area, where there are several interconnected halls and also tanks with gases and liquids used in production. Firefighters are therefore cooling the tanks, which could otherwise explode, writes Gazeta Wyborcza.

Authorities urged residents to stay at home, close windows and limit going out of their homes. “Due to the fire in Charnów and the possibility of harmful substances in the air, we ask you to stay at home and limit going out to the minimum necessary. We recommend closing windows and doors and turning off the air conditioning,” said Rafał Konon, mayor of Ustka.

Roughly three dozen employees were evacuated. The evacuation also affected residents within a radius of 200 meters from the factory.

A fire is raging in a factory that manufactures pressure vessels and there is a great risk of explosions. Firefighters should also be helped by soldiers. “The situation is very serious,” said Piotr Basarab, a spokesman for the fire department.

In the most dangerous places, the firefighters deployed a robot, they also use a drone, which provides an overview of the situation.
