Local businesses have no way to pay their employees due to empty shelves, interrupted tourist season and frequent power outages, as Russian journalists from the opposition website Agentsvo found out. The situation of employers was worsened last Friday by the occupation administration of Crimea, which introduced a state of emergency.
“The payment of wages for May and June to the drivers of SK GRAD is delayed. What about the people who are forced to go on vacation at their own expense and have not received proper payments for two months,” complained a resident of Simferopol on social networks.
Other companies had to resort to even more drastic solutions. “People are being laid off from all fields and no one knows how to pay expenses. There are no jobs,” complained another. “Yesterday, they forced us to resign at work,” added a woman from Kerč.
On Thursday, an appeal by the employees of the TPP gas station network appeared on Telegram, which they addressed to Russian President Vladimir Putin. “The jobs of two and a half thousand employees are at risk, thousands of families will be left without a livelihood,” the Astra investigative channel quoted the statement as saying.
Entrepreneurs and employees are therefore calling for a temporary tax exemption, but it seems that the authorities have not offered a helping hand. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Chusnullin, according to the state agency TASS, promised support measures for tourism in Crimea, but no concrete measures came.
