The cooperation in the field of defense between Bulgaria and Albania was the focus of the official visit to our country by the Minister of Defense, Atanas Zapryanov, who was received by his counterpart in Tirana, Pirro Vengu.
“My message to Albanian citizens is that Bulgaria and the Bulgarian people have a secure ally and friendly people. We are ready to cooperate in all areas, especially in the defense sector, to which I answer,”Stated the Bulgarian minister.
He appreciated the contribution that Albania is making as a member of NATO.
“I would like to thank the Albanian government in particular for their contribution to the NATO multino-nation combat group in Bulgaria, where 10 member states participate, with Italy as a framework. Albania was among the first countries to contribute to this group. Just a week ago, along with NATO Deputy Secretary General, I visited Novo Selo, where I saw the multinational fighter group and met with the Albanian contingent. I am impressed by the motivation of all the military, including Albanians, to be seriously prepared, if necessary, to protect NATO territory,Mr. Zapryanov said.
The minister emphasized that it is working to increase cooperation with Albania as an allied in the southeast side of the Alliance.
“I am impressed by the measures of the Albanian government to implement NATO decisions to strengthen industrial potential, investing in modern defensive products. A key development is the production of drones, a new way of combating modern fighting for the use of remote -controlled equipment and elongated weapons. We in Bulgaria are also innovators in this field and have the opportunity to share the experience. Next year in Bulgaria will be held the HEMUS Industrial Protection Fair, where we are glad to see Bulgarian and Albanian firms,Said Minister Zapryanov.
Among other things, he stressed that Bulgaria and countries part of NATO should be stoic and clear in attitudes towards Russia on the damage it has caused in Ukraine.
