The Albanian Book Fair 2026 was held in Skopje, an event that brought together publishers, writers, researchers, readers and lovers of Albanian culture from all over Albania. For four days in a row, the “Skënderbeu” square in the municipality of Çairi turned into a center for the promotion of books, reading and Albanian cultural values. The organizers of the event emphasized the importance of the fair as a meeting point between authors and readers, but also as an opportunity to strengthen cultural cooperation between Albanians in the region.
“The book has always been the safest journey of a nation. It has survived the most difficult times”, said Izet Mejhiti, Mayor of Skopje
“I thank all our writers who enrich Albanian literature with their work and give life to our language”, said Irena Toçi, publisher.
“This is an extraordinary event which has value not only for the book, for the writers for the reader, but it has a national value”, said Namik Dokle, writer.
The Albanian Book Fair in Skopje was recognized as an event of special importance for Albanian culture, laying the foundations for a new tradition that aims to unite authors, publishers and readers from Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro and the Presheva Valley every year.
