“It is an irreversible step and I cannot afford to take irreversible steps if I am not sure that I will be prime minister,” Babiš said on Instagram on Tuesday. He insists that he will resolve the conflict of interest.
“As soon as Mr. President appoints me, I will solve it. Do you know when that will be?” Babiš asked the plenary session a question.
However, Babiš refuses to reveal to the public how he intends to resolve the conflict of interests. He only ruled out that he planned to sell Agrofert.
The statement is a reaction to the president’s harsh statement on Monday. “He knew very well the whole time that if he wanted to be prime minister, he would have to deal with a conflict of interest. So he had a lot of time to think about how to resolve the conflict of interest,” Pavel said on Monday.
In the Czech Radio broadcast, he added that he did not intend to participate in the illegal situation by appointing Babiš and mentioned the possibility of proposing another candidate for prime minister.
The representatives of the movement immediately refused.
According to Tuesday’s statement of the vice-chairman of the ANO movement, Karel Havlíček, in ČT, Babiš must agree with Pavle “on the script”.
“It’s a matter of a family nature, not to mention the fact that it is connected with relations at the banking level,” added Havlíček by way of explanation. According to him, Babiš will then “tell the main outlines of how he will do it”.
