“She was literally defending him with her body,” said Itai Dror, a close family friend, in an interview after her funeral Wednesday. Witnesses described the same thing, that she defended her son with her own body to protect him from bullets.
“We heard the cry of a child. We pulled him out of the stretcher,” describes one of the tram passengers. I asked for the mother, but the policeman told me to focus on the child and took me to the hospital with him,” one of the passengers described to newsweek.com.

The husband of the murdered woman recalled that he spoke with her shortly before the attack. “She was on her way home. She had not only Ari with her, but also our dog. He didn’t even have a scratch on him
“When I arrived at the scene of the attack and found our dog shot, I feared the worst,” he recalls. He searched the entire neighborhood for her before realizing he should go to the hospital. The boy was found unharmed at Wolfson Medical Center.
“He was safe, he didn’t even have a scratch on him because he was in her carrier and she was protecting him. That was a miracle,” he described. Those who survived the attack talk about it similarly. According to them, the uninjured little boy was a “miracle” in the frenzied fire. “After hours of searching, the police came to inform me that she had been killed,” the husband described.
Segev-Vigder was 33 years old. She lived in Tel Aviv, where she owned a fitness and pilates studio. Her husband, Yaari Vigder, is a soldier, currently fighting in Gaza.
“One of the victims of the terrorist attack in Tel Aviv, Inbar Segev-Vigder, was murdered while protecting her nine-month-old son Ari. She saved his life. Nothing can be said about that. All that remains is a broken heart. May the memory of the victims be a blessing,” the State of Israel wrote on X while sharing a photo of the murdered woman and her son.
