The Head of the European Union Office in Kosovo, Aivo Orav and the British ambassador during a meeting with the new Speaker of Parliament, Dimal Basha, discussed, among other things, about the issue of constituting the country’s legislative body, which promoted controversy after Basha declared him constituting without the election of the Serbian Deputy.
The Head of the EU Office noted that Basha discussed the need to respect constitutional processes, providing comprehensive and multiethnic institutions. Orav assured that the EU will help Kosovo, while emphasizing that the formation of the government and the creation of parliamentary committees is key to obtaining funds from the growth plan, which have remained hostage due to the delay in the formation of the Assembly and the Government.
The European diplomat added that they are looking forward to these developments and the growth plan to bring about concrete socio-economic benefits to the people of Kosovo through additional financial assistance, economic integration and accelerated reforms. “
While the British Ambassador to Pristina, Jonathan Hargreaves, said that with Basha they agreed that the Assembly should be fully constituted as soon as possible. “We agreed on the importance of the full constitution of the Assembly as soon as possible, respecting any decision of the Constitutional Court,“He said.
