The report about the person who fell overboard was sent on Saturday around two in the morning local time (3:00 CEST). The incident occurred on the cruise ship MSC Virtuosa sailing under the Maltese flag, which at the time was located north of the island of Les Casquets, the BBC reports.
In addition to the helicopter that pulled the victim out of the sea, an air search service aircraft from the island of Guernsey and lifeboats from Alderney and France took part in the rescue operation. The Channel Islands belong to the administration of Great Britain, and the rescuers of two European countries were involved in the operation. In the same way, the British and French authorities will cooperate in the investigation of the event.
