The Embassy of the United States of America in Pristina has announced that the return of the US-Kosovo Strategic Dialogue depends on the creation of suitable conditions, including the fulfillment of Kosovo’s commitments to the Serbian community. In a response to RTK, a spokesperson for the American Embassy recalled that the dialogue was suspended indefinitely in September 2025, due to Washington’s concerns regarding the actions taken by the then government in office.
“The United States indefinitely suspended the US-Kosovo Strategic Dialogue in September 2025, due to concerns regarding the actions taken by the government at the time,” says the US Embassy’s response.
However, Washington has emphasized that it remains committed to the advancement of common interests with Kosovo, leaving open the possibility of resuming the dialogue, if the required conditions are met.
“We remain committed to advancing the common interests of the United States and the people of Kosovo,” the statement said.
As for the possibility of resuming the dialogue, the American Embassy has specifically mentioned the commitments of the institutions of Kosovo towards the Serbian community.
“We expect that the Strategic Dialogue will develop with Kosovo when the right conditions are created, including the fulfillment by Kosovo of its commitments in relation to the Kosovo Serbs”said the spokesperson’s response.
