The Government of the Republic of Kosovo held an electronic meeting, in which it approved the decision to respond to the request of the Assembly regarding the legislative initiative to amend and supplement the Law on Specialized Chambers and the Office of the Specialized Prosecutor.
This procedural step paves the way for further treatment of the bill in the Assembly, officially responding to the request of the legislature dated September 23, 2026 (Prot. 1108).
Legal assessment and budgetary impact
According to the official announcement from the executive, the approved decision contains the complete package of necessary procedural evaluations for the legislative initiative “Project Law No. 11/L-001 on the amendment and completion of Law No. 05/L-053”.
Compatibility with the EU, legal opinion on the degree of compatibility of the proposed changes with acquis of the European Union; the financial impact, the assessment of the budget impact that this draft law brings to the state treasury; legal content, detailed legal opinion on the content and implications of the proposed amendments.
“The Government of the Republic of Kosovo has held an electronic meeting, in which it has approved the decision with which it responds to the request of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo with Prot. No. 1108 dated 23.09.2026, for the Legislative Initiative for “Project Law No. 11/L-001 for the amendment and completion of Law No. 05/L-053 for the Specialized Chambers and the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office”, to provide the assessment that includes: the legal opinion of compatibility with the EU acquis; the assessment of the budgetary impact; and, the legal opinion regarding the content of the draft law in question.”, the notice says.
