The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs today commemorated the armed attack on the Kosovo Police in Banjska, on September 24, 2023, where Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed and other officers were injured.
In a reaction published on social networks, the MEPJ emphasizes that, three years after the event, the demand for full responsibility remains unchanged.
“Those responsible for planning, organizing, financing and carrying out the attack must face justice, while all the circumstances of this act of violence must be fully clarified“, says the reaction.
According to the Ministry, the attack in Banjska was not only a blow to the police forces of Kosovo, but also to the rule of law, peace, security and efforts to build lasting stability and normalization in the region.
“Allowing such acts to go unanswered would send the wrong message to those who seek to undermine peace through violence and intimidation.“, MEPJ emphasizes.
The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs underlines that there can be no lasting peace, consolidated stability or true normalization and reconciliation without responsibility.
“Justice is not and should never be an obstacle to dialogue. On the contrary, it is one of the essential foundations on which reliable dialogue, mutual trust and long-term reconciliation must be based,” concludes the MEPJ’s response.
