The former deputy of the Assembly of Kosovo, Flora Brovina, has passed away at the age of 76. She was a pediatrician, poet and human rights activist, known for her commitment to the protection of all children and children in Kosovo.
During the war in Kosovo, Flora Brovina was one of the main figures in the organization of aid for civilians and victims of violence. She founded and directed the Center for the Protection of Graves and Children in Pristina, which provides medical and psychological assistance to victims of sexual and human rights violence.
In 1999, during the NATO bombing period, Brovina was arrested by the Serbian authorities and sentenced to 12 years in prison for “terrorist activity”. She was released on November 1, 2000, after the opposition and the departure of Serbian forces from Kosovo. Flora Brovina became a member of the Governing Council of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) in June 2002 and of the party leadership in October 2006. She was re-elected to the Assembly of Kosovo in the general elections of 2004, 2007 and 2010.
Brovina was elected deputy in the Assembly of Kosovo in 2001 and has been active in the promotion of all children and children, as well as in the processes of state-building in Kosovo.
