The acting Prime Minister of Kosovo and head of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, has arrived at the Assembly of Kosovo for the meeting with the chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, as part of efforts to reach an agreement on the election of the new president.
Kurti was optimistic about the possibility of an agreement, stressing that the discussions with the LDK are taking place with good will and with the aim of avoiding new elections.
“We are continuing the discussions with good will, as we have agreed, so that we can bring the new president or president to the country and avoid new elections”, Kurti declared to the journalists.
He emphasized that the parties must maintain confidentiality during the negotiations, underlining that Vetëvendosje remains open for discussions until an agreement is reached.
“I always expect the best, that’s why we are going to the meeting today with good will”, said Kurti.
Meanwhile, the acting Foreign Minister, Glauk Konjufca, has stated that Vetëvendosje has already determined the names it can propose for the post of president, but has not disclosed their identities.
“The Vetëvendosje movement is ready. Prime Minister Kurti is ready. We have the names, but I cannot share them here with you, because then the negotiation process would lose its meaning”, said Konjufca.
The meeting between Kurti and Abdixik is seen as an attempt to find a political solution and to avoid another election process in Kosovo.
