A serious event shocked Prizren in the early hours of the morning, where an 80-year-old woman was found without signs of life in her apartment. The first suspicions of the police are that she was killed by her 81-year-old husband.
The spokesperson of the Kosovo Police for the Prizren region, Shaqir Bytyqi, announced that around 01:30, the police were notified of a dead woman in a residence in Prizren.
The police services and the medical emergency team arrived at the scene, and found the death of the 80-year-old woman, with the initials LD
Her husband, BD, about 81 years old, was also found inside the apartment, who was taken to the police.
After the examination of the place of the event by the investigators and experts of forensic medicine, the suspicion of the criminal offense of “serious murder” has arisen. According to the police, the injuries on the victim’s body are suspected to have been caused by physical force, without the use of a weapon or any other means, KosovaPress reports.
The body of the victim was sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Pristina for examination.
Her husband was interrogated in the presence of the defense lawyer and, by decision of the State Prosecutor, was detained for 48 hours.
According to police data, the couple had no previous reported cases of domestic violence and were alone in the apartment at the time of the incident.
Investigations continue for the complete clarification of the circumstances and the motive of the event.
