The Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, has reacted after the PDK deputies’ criticism of the way of communication of the Assembly’s Information Office, demanding that administration officials not become part of political clashes. Haxhiu emphasized that the responsibility for decision-making and political positions belongs to the holders of political mandates, while the professional staff must perform their duties without getting involved in debates between parties. According to her, any objection to her work should be addressed to her personally or presented through institutional procedures.
“One thing must be clear: disagreements and political clashes must remain between those who bear political responsibility”, Haxhiu said.
She has also opposed attempts to attribute political motives to the officials exercising their functions in the Assembly.
“It is not right to attribute political motives to professional officials or to create the impression that they serve an individual or a political entity just because they are performing their duties”. she declared.
The President of the Assembly has called on the deputies to, if they have concrete claims about the work of the staff, present them with facts and through the relevant mechanisms. “The professional staff of the Assembly is not a party to political clashes”, emphasized Haxhiu, requesting that the officials of the institution not be targeted or put under pressure because of their duties.
