The constitutive session of the Assembly of Kosovo was interrupted after the chairman of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, requested additional time for political discussions to reach an agreement on the name of the candidate for the new president of the country.
During his speech in the Assembly, Kurti said that more time is needed to give political talks a chance.
“We ask for additional time to give political talks a chance for an agreement on a president or a new president,” said Kurti.
The head of Vetëvendosje emphasized that the process of constitution of institutions should not lead again to the dissolution of the Assembly and new early elections.
“The constitution this time cannot again lead to a dissolution of the Assembly and premature and unreasonable elections again, harmful to the economy. Therefore, honorable Chairman Avni Dehari, we ask for additional time to give a chance to agreements for a president or a new president”, said Kurti.
Earlier, the 120 deputies of the 11th legislature of the Assembly of Kosovo were sworn in for their new mandate.
Previously, with 120 votes in favor, the report of the temporary commission for verifying the quorum and mandates of deputies was approved.
